The downtown area is nice enough that it makes one wonder why they would want to spend millions of dollars on construction of the Fayetteville Mall area. To news reporters, they like reporting the news, and this is news, so they seem be favorable. To tax payers, the construction is money the citizens don’t need to spend. See taxes. If you wander a few blocks you may wish you didn’t. Crime is most rampant to the south of Raleigh, but in recent years it’s been spreading out all around and has even spread to North Raleigh.
North Raleigh is far enough from downtown that people call it North Raleigh as though it is a city unto itself.
All along Capital Blvd to the north and Glenwood Ave to the west, towards Cary, there has been an increase in commercial building. Builders are finding that they are running out of affordable commercial real estate to build on, so the demand for land has commercial building contractors quickly building shopping plazas in Wake Forest.
